Bait Tech Festival 2010 - Day 3
Bait Tech Festival Day Three Well we have reached the half way point of the festival already and we have seen a few changes at the top today. Over night it rained for the first time in over a month and although we woke up to a dull day, the wind had died slightly and it was a much milder day. Day three always provides a bit of extra excitement as the 5 lake winners today all win a free holiday and an invitation back to fish our winners week mini festival. A Section Twin Oaks/Trelawney The overall weights were spread across both lakes today and all seemed to fish a bit better, especially the high numbers of Twin Oaks which seem to have benefited from the additional stocking of F1’s that have been introduced to the lake. The lake winner today on Trelawney peg 2 was Steve Barraclough, Steve weighed in with 134lb 12oz caught on the long pole with meat. Second with 94lb 5oz from Twin Oaks peg 23 was Steve Mayo, Steve caught a few fish on the feeder with groundbait & maggot and has the rest of his fish at 14.5 meters on the bottom with meat. Tony Wynnick was third; Tony was on Twin Oaks peg 2 and caught on the straight lead with meat for a weight of 78lb 9oz. The next best weight came from Lee Pesticcio on Twin Oaks peg 35, Lee had a weight of 66lb 6oz caught on the groundbait feeder with maggot and a few down the edge on corn. Section Winners Steve Barraclough 9 points peg 2 134lb 12oz Steve Mayo 9 points peg 23 94lb 5oz Tony Wynnick 9 points peg 2 78lb 9oz Darren Shaw 9 points peg 22 46lb 5oz B Section Porth It was a tough day for the anglers on Porth today with the anglers being plagued with pike in their pegs, one angler even landing an 8lb fish that ate his rig! The lake was won with 10lb 15oz and this came from Craig Elkin on peg 39, Craig caught on the waggler with caster and on the groundbait feeder. Richard Wildman took second with 10lb 3oz, Richard caught on single dead pinkie on the tip at 35 yards from peg 77. Third on peg 21 was Grant Albutt, Grant caught on the waggler & feeder with chopped worm & casters for a weight of 9lb 1oz. Richie Hull on peg 18 had the next best weight on the lake with 7lb 14oz, Richie caught on the waggler with maggot. Jon Gray was the lake winner today with 139lb 7oz; Jon was on peg 27 and caught on the pole at 16 meters in front & down the edge on meat. Second on peg 18 was Joff Rogers, Joff caught on the waggler with meat for a weight of 112lb 7oz. Richard Kinning took third with a weight of 91lb 1oz, Richard was on peg 49 and caught on the long pole with meat. The sections are close on weight for points and it is the back arm where the anglers are mostly struggling for bites. The lake winner today with 116lb 9 oz was Steve Ringer; Steve was on peg 30 and caught on the long pole with meat. Gary Webber on peg 26 was second with 62lb 3oz, Section Winners Steve Ringer 9 points peg 30 116lb 9oz Richard Salmon 9 points peg 7 43lb 3oz Cliff Adams 9 points peg 16 33lb 6oz Paul Jee 9 points peg 43 14lb 12oz E Section Jennys/Python Good weights up on Jennys today with just a few pounds making the difference in points. The weights on the wides of Python were also close but it was a different story on the narrows where all but the end peg struggled for bites. Phil Ringer was the lake winner today and also the only angler to pick up another perfect section result, Phil was on Jennys peg 17 and caught on the maggot feeder and hair rigged meat for a weight of 59lb 6oz. Second on Jennys peg 1 was Paul Yates, Paul weighed in with 51lb 6oz caught on the long pole with chopped worm and had 5 of his better fish down the edge at 9 meters on meat. Tommy Pickering had a weight of 50lb 14oz to take third, Tommy had 40 fish his best being 8lb and these were all caught on the meat feeder. Tom Hanser weighed in with 49lb 8oz which was the next best weight, Tom caught on the groundbait feeder with maggot from Python peg 36 Section Winners Phil Ringer 9 points peg 17 59lb 6oz Paul Yates 9 points peg 1 51lb 6oz Tom Hanser 9 points peg 36 49lb 8oz John Brooks 9 points peg 13 25lb 2oz Here is how the action from day three has affected over overall results Overall Top 20 1st Phil Ringer 27 points 232lb 8oz 2nd Steve Ringer 26 points 264lb 11oz 3rd Joff Rogers 26 points 180lb 3oz 4th Jon Gray 25 points 178lb 5oz 5th Richard Kinning 24 points 258lb 14oz 6th Steve Barraclough 24 points 192lb 7th Andy Neal 24 points 128lb 10oz 8th Stewart Lister 24 points 128lb 10oz 9th Lee Edwards 24 points 120lb 5oz 10th Craig Elkin 24 points 107lb 11th James Granger 24 points 101lb 8oz 12th John Brooks 24 points 93lb 13oz 13th Steve Cooke 24 points 82lb 14oz 14th Ady Lindsay 23 points 238lb 9oz 15th Gary Webber 23 points 147lb 7oz 16th Alan Crouch 22 points 184lb 2oz 17th Tommy Pickering 22 points 164lb 18th Danny Wynn 22 points 143lb 10oz 19th Ian Didcote 22 points 112lb 11oz 20th Andy Power 22 points 99lb 1oz Phil Ringer is our only angler on perfect points but not all is lost for the anglers as the “dropper” still has to come into play. Those that lost a few section points yesterday will be looking to claw their way back up the table and for those that increased their points they will be hoping for good draws for the last two days. As with all of the festivals it could come close to the wire, can Phil or Steve make it another Ringer festival win or even a Ringer first & second or will one of the other anglers knock them out of the top spots. Join us tomorrow for the penultimate day of the festival. Read more about White Acres Country Park in Cornwall...
